Public pensions have become a political issue across the nation as the economic downturn has squeezed state and local government budgets. San Diego is grappling with how to close the growing budget gap while successfully resolving this critical issue. What does a 401k-style pension entail? Are public employee pensions the reason for government deficits? What would happen if we stay the course?
